Our experienced staff at Glen Hills have ensured that the traditional standards are maintained whilst looking to educate the children for their future.

We offer an inspirational, enriched, challenging and ambitious curriculum which provides children with the knowledge, skills, character, understanding and vocabulary for them to succeed.

Our highly effective curriculum consistently delivers excellent outcomes for all student groups, including those who are more capable, disadvantaged, or have special needs. Additionally, we are increasingly identifying and providing enriching opportunities for highly able students, pushing them to work at a deeper level across various aspects of the curriculum through targeted assignments designed to challenge and enhance their learning.

• Our Maths curriculum is designed by us to be challenging and progressive.
• The English curriculum emphasises phonics, reading, writing, spelling and grammar.
• Computing skills are taught with access to interactive whiteboards, computers, devices and internet safety education.
• Science is taught progressively for knowledge and skills.
• Art, French, Music, and PE are a key part of the curriculum with notable achievements.
• Cultural Capital and British Values are integrated into lessons to create respectful learners.

Phonics & Reading
Reading is central to our curriculum. Early reading and cultivating a love for reading are crucial at our school.

• Phonics is taught daily in Reception and Year 1 using Little Wandle.
• Our phonics sessions are progressive, systematic and interactive.
• We maintain phonics in Year 2 and 3, extending it beyond these years when required for specific students. Additionally, we offer Speed Read Intervention to provide further support for our pupils to aid their reading skills.

Celebrating Success
We believe in rewarding the success of our pupils. We have a simple behaviour system with expectations of good behaviour, respect for peers and adults and all children giving their all to learning.

We celebrate with a house point system, pompoms to reward our school values and achievement awards.

Special Educational Needs & Disability
We offer strong SEND support across the school with small inclusion groups in KS2 where necessary.

ELSA
Our ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) offers wellbeing support to pupils who need social skills, self-esteem and emotional support in school. We also have wellbeing ambassadors who support pupils’ wellbeing.
